| Professor Memon performs two types of weight loss (bariatric) procedures - Intragastric Balloon (Orbera) and Laproscopic Gastric Band surgery. He utilizes the MIDband for laparoscopic (keyhole) gastric band surgery for all his patients
A private weight loss clinic takes place every Tuesday at 8 Gordon Street Ipswich, QLD. The initial consultation usually takes 45-60 minutes and includes full body composition analysis. Following the initial consultation patients are referred to a dietician and psychologist for further evaluation and a number of blood tests are organised. Following the completion of this entire process which can take from two to four weeks, the final decision regarding the suitability of each patient for weight loss surgery is made by our multidisciplinary team. Subsequently the patient is given a set of written instructions for both the pre- and post-operative period. Postoperative follow-up is rigorous and patients are required to attend Dr Memon's clinic at least once a month. Full body composition analysis is performed at each clinic attendance, to monitor progress closely. If need be patients are referred to the dietician and psychologist for further support. Patient with lap bands may require fills intermittently and this is done in the clinic.
